We worked this song in the episode of listening practice number 12, but we reviewed it again in depth, this time by our friend Michael´s demand, who suggested we discuss this beautiful song for another look at the present subjunctive forms of desire, as in this case. Moreover, the lexical richness of the song is extraordinary, has a vocabulary that puts your power words, phrases and common expressions in Spanish, full of meaning and poetry. We do it happy, because, again, we believe that one of the most entertaining and motivating ways to further improve your Spanish is through good songs in this language.

Ya trabajamos esta canción en el episodio de prácticas nº 12, pero volvemos a revisarla, más en profundidad esta vez, a petición de nuestro amigo Michael, quien nos sugirió analizar esta hermosa canción para volver a repasar el presente de subjuntivo en fórmulas de deseo, como en este caso. Por otra parte, la riqueza léxica de la canción es extraordinaria; posee un vocabulario que pone a vuestro alcance palabras, frases hechas y expresiones muy comunes en español, cargadas de significación y poesía. Por eso lo hacemos encantados, porque, una vez más, creemos que una de las maneras más entretenidas y motivantes de seguir mejorando nuestro español es mediante las buenas canciones en este idioma.

In our 135th episode (Al-Ándalus) two friends and classmates, Rosa and Pepa, are talking about a school project about Muslim Spain of the Middle Ages, which for eight centuries was known as Al-Andalus. The Muslim conquered the Iberian peninsula (modern Spain), starting from the South (Andalusia at the present). It certainly was a rule but was also a rich exchange among cultures, languages, knowledge and technical advances that came a big progress to the muslim Spain.One of the most important legacies is the vast number of Arabic words into Spanish and provided we currently use routinely without knowing, frequently, their Arab origin. We go into a little bit to this historical period and know some of its manifestations.

Uno de los legados más importantes es la inmensa cantidad de palabras que el idioma árabe aportó al español y que hoy usamos de manera habitual, sin conocer, muchas veces, su origen árabe. Vamos a acercarnos un poquito a este periódico histórico y a conocer algunas de sus manifestaciones.

In our 134th episode, Coral and her cousin Sergio are watching the noon news on TV. At this point it is said that Sarkozy´s government has issued a decree to expel thousands of gypsy people from France. Coral thinks this is an miserable act that tramples the most basic human rights. But Sergio has a different opinion: he thinks it is a fear act and he has plenty of reasons to justify it. We will listen to comment and discuss this issue.
